Universally Applicable Ring Gauge for Measuring Strains on Bars, Axes and Cylinders

The octogon ring gauge measures strains on rotationally symmetrical components quickly and easily. Because of this, they are ideally suited for the determination of elongations on the bars of presses and injection molding machines. The tensile and compressive forces that occur can be determined indirectly via the strains. In addition to new systems, the ring gauge is also suitable for retrofitting and is immediately ready for use. It is the perfect alternative to conventional strain gauges.

Typical applications

Frequent areas of application include the measurement of tensile and compressive forces in presses and injection molding machines as well as the measurement of clamping forces on these. The installation of the ring gauges is recommended for both new systems and as a retrofit. Of course, our ring gauges can also be used for any other cylindrical geometry.

How does a ring gauge work?

The ring gauges are clamped on a cylinder or spar. The StrainPads are pressed so hard on the component, which is to be measured, that static friction occurs between the two parts. In this way, we can achieve results that are in no way inferior to the results with conventionally bonded strain gauges (DMS). After installing our ring gauges, strains of up to 1000 μm/m can be measured. Our ring gauges are ideally suited for the measurement of strains on the bars of presses and injection molding machines. The tensile and compressive forces that occur can be determined indirectly via the expansions. In addition to new systems, the ring gauges are also suitable for retrofitting and are ready for immediate use.

Powerful Connection

The ring gauges are placed around the respective cylinder and tightened with a screw. This creates static friction between our StrainPads and the component to be measured. The ring gauges are mainly used worldwide for machine calibration and they achieve the same accuracies as glued-on strain gauges (DMS).

Fast & Easy Installation

The ring gauges are placed around the respective cylinder and tightened with a screw. This enables very quick assembly and disassembly of the ring gauges. This also makes our ring gauges ideally suited for those applications where precise and fast measurements are required.
