What different load cells or force transducers are there?

The octogon product portfolio for force measurement includes compression force transducers, tension and compression force transducers, shear and bending bars, load measuring shackles, ring force transducers as well as measuring axles, tension measuring straps, cable force and strain transducers and load cells. What are the different measuring principles for force sensors / force transducers?

At octogon, strain gauge technology is used for the construction of force transducers.

  • Foil strain gauges (strain gauges for short) offer great geometric variability and also impress with their high accuracy from 0.01 % of EW. Even the smallest forces can be reliably measured by such force sensors. The strain gauges are bonded to the deformation body and the measuring ranges extend from 0 ... 0.5 N to 0 ... 10,000 kN.

Force sensors are used in a wide range of industrial sectors: Mechanical engineering, automation and process technology are just three of many industry examples. Force measurement technology is also used in cranes and hoists, agricultural technology and harbour logistics, for example.
