With the flow measurement technology from octogon, even the smallest flows are recorded quickly and with high precision using the calorimetric measuring principle.

The electrical function of the flow monitor | IP67 | stainless steel is based on the calorimetric principle. The sensor is heated by a few degrees Celsius from the inside in relation to the flow medium into which it protrudes. If the medium flows, the heat generated in the sensor is dissipated by the medium, i.e. the sensor is cooled. The temperature in the sensor is measured and compared with the medium temperature measured in the sensor. The flow state for each medium can be derived from the temperature differences obtained.

The sensor head is manufactured in one piece from stainless steel using an innovative electronic and mechanical design. This ensures absolute tightness and high pressure resistance. Stainless steel has limited stability in corrosive, especially oxidising media. The probe should therefore be made of at least the same material that is used for this medium.

The temperature that ensues in the sensor is measured and compared to the registered medium temperature. The state of flow of the medium can be derived from the registered temperature difference.
